Major Activity Centre - Nillumbik Council 

Place Manager

Council has an opportunity for a motivated and passionate professional seeking to make a positive difference to the future of one of Melbourne’s most scenic and unique municipalities. The MAC Place Manager will assist in transitioning the Eltham and Diamond Creek major activity centres to a more sustainable urban form, better able to respond to future challenges.

As the MAC Place Manager, you will part of the Strategic and Economic Planning Unit; a unit committed to providing an integrated approach to land use planning. You will coordinate the delivery of Council projects within each centre, ensuring that these centres become a focus for community life.

Key responsibilities will include:


Implementing the vision and objectives of the Eltham and Diamond Creek structure plans.

Identifying and developing partnerships for innovation and investment.

Contributing to the improvement of the quality, appearance and functionality of each centre and exploring opportunities for civic improvements.

Leading the preparation of master plans for various precincts and sites within each activity centre.

Establishing and managing effective links with community, government and business stakeholders, including facilitating the activities of the Eltham MAC Development Forum.
 

To be successful in this role you will have:

A tertiary qualification in the area of land use planning, urban design, economic development, property development and finance, or a related discipline relevant to the position objectives.

Experience in the preparation and/or implementation of master plans, structure plans, urban design frameworks or similar.

Experience in project management.

Preferable experience and familiarity with the principles and practices of:

Place management
Urban design
Property development
Economic development
Land use planning legislation and processes.
The Nillumbik Planning Scheme, the municipality and its issues.

This is a permanent full-time Band 7 position, with a salary range of $73,240 to $81,731 + super and RDO.
